My passion for food has been inspired by many
people and places: the incredible organic garden
my mother had when I was a child; my Italian
family’s food, traditions and celebrations; my
culinary training, and my experience traveling all
over the US, in Italy, Asia, France and other
locations
have all shaped how I cook, and how I think
about food.
They have given me an appreciation for quality
ingredients,
proper technique, food history and how good food can enhance life.
My experience has also taught me how very special it is to sit at the table and break bread with someone.
Before my life in the culinary field, I was a singer/actress in NY and grew up with parents that were both involved in the theatre. When that career stopped making me happy I realized how passionate I was about food and decided to enroll in culinary school. I attended the acclaimed French Culinary Institute in New York City and worked there for four years after graduating. This enabled me to work with some of the finest chefs in the industry and to train further, taking courses in pastry, bread baking, wine and catering. I also contributed recipes to the James Beard Award winning cook book, “It’s all American Food,” by David Rosengarten.
As a personal chef, I have the opportunity to be creative and can nurture and pamper my customers in a much more personal manner than I ever could in a restaurant. I love to prepare simple, honest food that a grandmother might cook as well as more refined fare. Particularly, if you love authentic Italian cooking - La Cucina della Nonna - then I’m your girl! I also love to prepare American favorites, Mexican, Spanish, Mediterranean and many other ethnic cuisines.
I am a proud member of the American Personal & Private Chef Association (APPCA) & the Slow Food Organization.
I am fully licensed, insured and am ServSafe Certified.
